» Question / Answer sessions Every 2 weeks, Katherine answers questions from her fans. If you want to ask a question, send an email to
question@thelword-fr.net or meltlw@free.fr. The Q/A session is copyrighted and exclusive to www.thelword-fr.net and is not to be copied or reproduced without written permission. 1.) In episode 10, Shane told Molly she doesn't know if she's ever been in love. What's your opinion about this? Why are the writers trying to act like Carmen never existed when she still has many fans? Katherine: I don't know. You're asking the wrong person, I don't write the episodes. But my opinion would be yes, she loved her. But it doesn't mean she will outwardly admit it. 2.) How do you think Shane and Jenny would work as a couple? Katherine: I think it could be interesting. It could really be great or down right horrible. 3.) When do you start filming Remorse? Katherine: I don't know if I'm still going to do that film. Why it was announced in the trades so early is beyond me. 4.) Now that showtime has announced the sad news final season of The L Word, what was your first reaction, feelings about it all coming to an end? Are you ready to move on to the next chapter of your life as far as acting is concerned? Katherine: I knew it was gonna come sooner or later. I wasn't surprised. But the reality of it is sad. I would rather go out with something before it becomes more of a soap opera than it already has become. I'm excited to see what life will offer after the show. 1.) When the show ends, what will you miss most? Katherine: Ask me again, when the show is officially over. 2.) Why do you think Shane is "drawn" to Molly? Katherine: Because she is a chase and bites back. It represents strength. That's always attractive. 3.) Do you enjoy learning the American Sign Language? Was it hard to learn and communicate with Marlee Matlin? Katherine: Like I said in the last answer [of the episode Q/A], I love it. And it was something I picked up on a lot quicker than I thought I would. Marlee was wonderful in her instructions. And made it seem very simple. What I gathered was that the signs for most actions are reflective to the action itself. That's how I remembered so much. It fascinates me. 4.) What 'essential items' do you always have in your trailer during filming? Katherine: A pillow, blanket, toothbrush, movies. 1.) Does Shane still surprise you after all these years in her skin? Katherine: Sometimes. When she's not being a sex machine. And actually is put in trying circumstances. I'm always curious to see how it will be handled. 2.) What is your professional schedule for the next months to come? Katherine: I don't really know yet. The strike has halted a lot of things. 3.) You said several times that you like Jenny's storyline. Is there a character or storyline of a character that you do not like? Katherine: Any storyline that doesn't have a solid foundation is tedious to me. I'll leave it at that. 4.) Are you a superstitious person? If so, what superstitions do you believe in? Katherine: I'm deeply superstitious. Always have been. I'm always knocking on wood. 1.) About the scene with the bride in episode 2, when you made this improvisation line " you really remain me someone i used to know a lot" - which is very very great, there are a lot of feelings in it - I would like to know, who is this person? Some people think it's Dana and some people think it's Carmen. So for you, who is it and how did you get this idea to say that line? Katherine: It was a reference to Carmen. It just kinda came out because the woman playing the bride looked like Sarah a bit. It would have been a missed opportunity to not somehow address it. I've been waiting to acknowledge that whole wedding ditch thing and that seemed to fit in there. Just to prove Shane hasn't completely forgotten what had happened. 2.) What good films or documentaries have you recently seen that make you think different about life or work? Katherine: I just saw once, La vie en rose and A mighty heart. For me, those films proved that amongst all this popcorn entertainment, there are things out there with a heartbeat. That's inspiring to me. 3.) What's the best advice anyone has ever given you? Katherine: Start a pension as soon as you can. 4.) What album will you never grow tired of listening to? Katherine: Hmmm... either Madonna's like a virgin or Patti Smith's horses. 5.) Would you classify yourself as an introvert or extrovert? Katherine: Both. Depends on the day. 1.) Who are some of the people that you use/have used as inspiration to construct the character of Shane? Katherine: A little bit of this and a little bit of that. I could have given you a better answer on that 5 years ago. It's 2nd nature at this point. 2.) Did you do anything special for your birthday this year? Katherine: I had a great birthday. Thank you. I spent it with a good group of friends in the snow. It was perfect. 3.) Have you ever watched "Life" with Sarah Shahi? If so, what do you think? Katherine: Sadly no. I'm not a big tv show watcher. I forget when things are on. 4.) Judging from the pictures, the S5 premiere looked liked fun! How was the evening for you? How was your hangover the next day? And lots of people are shocked that you were seen with Paris Hilton. Is she a friend or was that the first time you'd met her? It seems to contradict your recent Diva interview? Katherine: I think the premiere had a great turn out. I give those people accolades for standing in the rain waiting to get in. We all had a good time. To answer about Paris. We have a mutual friend who asked her to come out. That's pretty much it. She's a sweet girl. Now, in regard to the magazine quote you mentioned. All i can say is, things get misquoted all the time in press. It's the nature of the beast. There is truth in the phrase "don't believe everything you hear". Or in this case "read". Maybe I have that quote turned around. But you get it. |
